Plenty of people experience what feels like love at first sight.
This is when the sight of the person stirs butterflies in you to such an extent that you lose track of time and your own thoughts.
It’s like you are stuck in a haze of love, and all that exists is that particular person.
You don’t care about anything else.
All you know in those moments is that person.
He is the embodiment of everything you find attractive in an ideal mate, whether it be the shape and color of his eyes, the squareness of his exquisite jawline, the deepness of his eyes in color and depth, the dominance of his height, the protrusion of his muscular chest, the girth of his powerful legs, etc.
He is the guy you have been waiting for your entire life.
There have been several guys who have shown an interest in you.
But you never ever felt that any of them was the complete package of an ideal mate.
Yet, you dated a few of these men.
After all, it was either that or you would be alone yet again, while your peers had significant others.
It gets tiring being the odd friend out all the time.
Whether it be at parties, night outs in clubs, weddings, vacations, etc., it really gets old whenever you so happen to be the only solo friend.
So, you entertain a few of the guys who show an interest in you, and even though you aren’t entirely satisfied with their physical appearance, you end up dating a few of them.
They were just enough but not someone you would go to sleep at night and dream about.
That is why you are in a complete haze when you see a man who checks off all of the boxes in what you find attractive in a guy.
This was unexpected.
You have gotten so used to never encountering the ideal guy in your everyday life experience; it takes you by complete surprise when you see this perfection of a man.
The feeling of love at first sight isn’t solely based on what he looks like physically.
The full effect happens when you make eye contact with him and he gives you a look that makes your heart skip multiple beats.
It’s not the kind of eye contact you have had with the men who became your boyfriends in the past.
This eye contact is too soothing.
It’s as though in that moment as he looks at you, he knows you.
He understands your fears and imperfections, as well as what sincerely makes you happy.
His gaze gives you the impression that he knows who you are to such an extent that a word doesn’t need to be uttered between the two of you.
It is immensely comforting to have the impression that he gets you.
He knows who you are and what you are all about.
You don’t have to pretend with him.
The level of security and comfort experienced in this one moment never occurred with any other man who has shown a romantic interest in you in the past or dated you.
Love at first sight feels real because your mind and body experience all of the chemical reactions, thanks to feel-good hormones or neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin, that two people who are already in love feel for each other.
All in all, love at first sight is an emotion.
An emotion triggered by what you see physically and how that translates to what you feel in that moment on account of the feel-good hormones that are released in your body.
The feel-good hormones that surge within you as you are locked in a powerful gaze with him give you an illusion of love, but these emotions are unsubstantiated and thereby fleeting.
