When your boyfriend is choosing not to do stuff for you that he used to do for his ex-girlfriend, he wants his experiences with you to be different from what he had with his ex-girlfriend.

Basically, he wants to move on.
You are a new relationship and he wants to approach it differently, looking at you as someone unique and different who deserves better treatment.
In this scenario, your boyfriend thinks he is doing right by you in not doing stuff for you that he used to do with his ex-girlfriend.
It doesn’t necessarily mean something if your ex is still wearing the necklace you gave her while you were in a relationship with her.
Your ex is still wearing that necklace because she really likes it, and it receives a boatload of compliments on it.
She likes how it goes with certain outfits, or the attention she gets from people when she wears it.
She already has a history of keeping gifts from past boyfriends, and you are no different.
Think back to the time you were in a relationship with her.
In a situation where you haven’t gotten over your ex emotionally, and are determined to, you are better off not reading that email.
As you are still in the process of healing from a breakup, and have every intention of moving forward with your life, you are better off not reading that email.
You can do so at a later date when you have healed, and mentally moved on.
Right now, you are getting your life back together, or working on moving forward with your life, and the last thing you need is any distraction from your ex.
Being reintroduced to your ex when you haven’t completely healed reopens old wounds, and this isn’t a place you want to be in.
