When his generosity is coming at you too fast and too soon, there is a good chance he is love bombing you.
This is where he is far too premature in giving you far too many gifts before he has even learned what your favorite color is, or he is lauding your character before he knows whether you have ever been arrested.
This is too much too soon.
Before he took you out on the first date, he was already going overboard with all the affection, compliments, gift-giving, and favors.
He does all of this without any prompting from you, putting it on himself to arbitrarily demonstrate this outlandish generosity.
A little flustered, you politely accept his generosity, but it keeps coming.
Before you have had enough time to smell the new bouquet of roses he just had delivered to your place, he is gifting you with a fully paid all-day spa treatment for the coming weekend.
This feels like too much, and it is.
He is sadly love-bombing you with this much generosity.
There are a few reasons why a guy would love-bomb a girl.
There are guys with genuinely nefarious and self-centered intentions who look to sweep the girl off of her feet and get her emotionally hooked on them, at which point they do a complete reversal and stop with all of the generosity.
This is where he has full control over your emotions, given that you are now emotionally dependent on him to be the source of making you feel good, desired, and loved.
With this power, he can be as controlling over your thoughts and behavior as he so chooses.
Then there are guys who love-bomb out of insecurity and a deep fear of losing the girl if they don’t.
He deems love-bombing to be his only way of getting you to like him and never lose interest in him.
This would be a guy who has no confidence in who he is as a person and his own uniqueness.
He believes that overwhelming the woman with all of the affection, compliments, attention, and extravagant gestures will make her so impressed with him, she won’t lose interest in him.
These are two of the most common reasons why a guy would love-bomb a girl.
Neither one is necessarily all that palatable.
After all, neither a guy who is knowingly love-bombing you so as to ultimately take advantage of you emotionally nor a guy who is so insecure he love-bombs you so as to keep you from losing interest in him and essentially buy your love are healthy relationship prospects.
That said, you will know when you are dealing with a guy who is genuinely attracted to you and not love bombing when his generous and giving behavior correlates with where you both are on the courtship path.
Instead of going overboard on a first date by bringing you expensive flowers, jewelry, and gifts before taking you to an expensive 5-star restaurant, he keeps it simple by either meeting you for brunch or coffee.
If this encounter is successful and there is romantic chemistry, he ups the ante a little bit moving forward.
The next time he talks to you on the phone, he specifically compliments you on how lovely you looked at the first date.
This would be one of only a few compliments he would have given you at this point in time.
Furthermore, the conversations he has with you over the phone following the first date are conducted without excess.
In other words, he doesn’t inundate you with text messages, memes, and phone calls.
He talks to you a few times for a fair amount of time but not for endless hours.
As long as those conversations go well, he consequently asks you out on a second date.
The second date itself is a little bit more elaborate than the first but within reason.
Whereas he met you for brunch or coffee on the first date, he takes you out to a reputable restaurant on the second.
Reputable enough that it doesn’t have a bunch of bad reviews online but nothing too fancy or grandiose.
He is elevating his generosity in correlation with how well he is getting along with you and the rapport that is gradually being established.
A man whose generosity in giving goes at a pace that correlates with a steady courtship, as you gradually get to know each other, is a man who is genuinely attracted to you.
