Insecurity or greed is deeply embedded in someone that is a catfish on dating apps.
A catfish on dating apps is someone that creates a fake persona and identity so as to deceive their matches for personal gain.
The personal gain is in developing a romantic, emotional, or financial relationship with a match.
Being that dating apps are in the online world, lots of people have access to them.
People filled with insecurities, greed, etc.
Those who are motivated by greed become catfishes for personal financial gain, feigning love for a match so as to trick said match into sending them money.
That said, the lion’s share of catfishes on dating sites are motivated by insecurity.
A person that isn’t happy with her day to day life.
She goes to a job she hates everyday and returns to a lonely home that is akin to living in a cage.
Even her cats aren’t enough to make her happy and less lonely.
Therefore, she gets on the dating apps.
Having no confidence in herself as a person, or in her physicality, she creates a false persona.
She creates a woman she believes a man adores, in persona and physicality.
The first step is to steal photos of someone else online, and post said photos to her profile.
She makes sure that these stolen photos are the embodiment of a woman that men are attracted to.
These are stolen photos of a woman with gorgeous facial features and a fit body.
These are physical features she knows she doesn’t possess in real life.
No one in real life compliments her physical features, save her mother of course.
She isn’t physically fit.
Her loneliness and self-loathing has led her to be irresponsible with her physique.
Unhealthy eating has led to an overweight body.
She consumes unhealthy foods to make herself feel better about her life, but in the end, the relief they provide is short-lived, and she is miserable soon after.
Her lack of self-confidence has compelled her to spend far too much time at home, as she doesn’t want to put herself around people in public settings, fearing judgment.
They don’t have to say anything to her verbally, she hears their thoughts as they stare at her with derision.
“She is so ugly.”
“She is so fat.”
“She is so gross.”
This is what she believes they are thinking of her.
Putting herself in social settings where she is hearing these words in her head only drive her to not want to be in social settings altogether.
As a consequence, when she isn’t at school or work, she is at home.
While she is at home, she gets online.
While she is online, she logs into dating apps.
She wants to feel better about herself by escaping her miserable existence.
Online, she is anonymous.
No one knows that she is the one behind the keyboard.
She is free.
With this freedom, she is tempted to experience the life she wants to live.
That of a person that is desired.
A person that is beautiful and in good physical shape.
A popular person that has tons of friends, as opposed to being a hermit at home.
This is the motivation that creates the catfish in her.
She is in search of an escape from her miserable daily existence.
When she sees how well men react to her stolen photos and the fake persona she has created on dating apps, she undergoes a dopamine rush.
It feels so good.
Unlike her everyday life in the real world.
The more positive responses she receives from the men she is misleading on dating apps, the more she wants said positive responses.
She becomes addicted to how good she feels, and forgets about her real life.
While she is at work, she is consumed with excitement at the thought of getting off work, speeding home, and logging into dating apps.
While she is on the dating apps, she is filled with feverish delirium.
She can’t get enough.
The line between reality and make-believe gets blurred.
Soon, her reality isn’t what it once was.
It is overtaken by the fake life she has created on dating apps.
This is so much better than the real world.
She wants to stay in this fantasy world until that bubble bursts.
The bubble bursts when someone she has been talking to on a dating app asks to meet her in person.
That would be you.
All of a sudden, the beautiful girl that matched with you, and gave you weeks of heartwarming conversations, is no longer responding to your messages.
The game is up.
It was a sweet and emotional ride for her.
But now, she has to move on to her next victim.
