As long as this is a guy who has been promptly replying to your text messages, until this isolated incident, you should still give this guy the time of day.
Even though he left you on read for over 24 hours, don’t read too much into it.
This isn’t an indication that he doesn’t care about his relationship with you.
Something came up during that time that made him unable to reply to your message in a timely fashion.
Consider what is currently going on in his life.
This guy isn’t completely sure about whether he wants to go on a date with you, and so he hesitates.
As someone who cancelled a date on you, there are no guarantees that he wanted to go on said date in the first place.
Regardless of what he told you in terms of why he couldn’t make it to the date, consider the possibility that he never cared all that much about going to it.
This being said, he has continued to text but hasn’t rescheduled the cancelled date because he is unwilling to let go of the prospect of going out on a date with you entirely.
He wants to keep you around as a dating option, but you are not a priority to him.

Making lighthearted banter about facetious topics, isn’t a guy who likes you.
Incessantly talking about pop culture, or what he did on his lunch break, isn’t a sign of attraction.
He is bored, and wants someone to exchange banter with to kill time.
That’s why his text messages never go anywhere substantive in terms of topics of discussion.

When you text too much without giving him the space to initiate texts as well, he gets lazy with taking the initiative to text you.
He comes to expect you to do all the texting, and as a result, he stops putting in the effort.
This is where you start.
Reduce the amount of texts that you are sending him and give him the space to text you first.
Find activities to undertake that keeps you busy.
A guy that is just tired of talking to you won’t ask you questions about yourself as much.
Even when he does, those questions are frivolous and insubstantial.
He does this so as not to get into any deep conversations with you.
He knows that asking you a question about yourself requires an extended and substantial response, and that leaves him stuck having to listen to you for a while.
This is where he avoids asking you any questions about yourself that opens the door to an extended response that he isn’t ready to listen to.
