It is normal to see someone and deem that they are physically attractive.
But it is something else entirely when you feel attracted to this person.
Usually, when you are at a point where you feel attracted to someone else, you are emotionally invested in the person to a degree.
This is worrisome, given that you are already in a committed relationship with another man and speaks to the likelihood you are no longer as emotionally invested in said man as you once were.
It isn’t normal to feel attracted to someone else while in a relationship because all of your romantic emotional capacity should be taken up by your boyfriend.
Think about the early months of your relationship with your boyfriend and how excited you were about him.
At that time, you were so consumed by him emotionally, all you wanted to do was see him.
You couldn’t get enough of going out on dates with him or hanging out at each other’s places.
Whenever he called or texted, you were filled with joy and elation as he entertained and charmed you with his voice and words.
You were so into him, you would talk to friends and family about him incessantly.
To such an extent, some of them got sick of it.
Basically, you were so addicted to him, you wanted to spend almost every waking hour with him, whether it was on the phone or in person.
That was then.
Now, although you still have feelings for your boyfriend, the excitement you feel for him is nowhere near where it was in the beginning.
Whenever he texts or calls, you aren’t as excited to reply or engage, which leads to a delay in your response.
In the early months of the relationship, you would stare at your phone with excitement, anticipating a text message or phone call from him.
You haven’t been like this for a while now.
On top of this, there have been several times over the last few months where you have passed on going out with him, choosing instead to stay home or go out with a few of your girlfriends.
This is a complete change from how it was in the early months of the relationship.
That was when you would cancel plans to go out that you had already made with friends and family so as to accommodate him.
Back then, friends and family would complain about this, but that didn’t stop you from doing it.
The same attitude applied to how you treated them over the phone.
You weren’t texting or calling them as much because so much of that time was spent talking to your boyfriend.
But of late, there has been a reverse.
You are spending more time in person and over the phone with your friends and family and less time with your boyfriend.
It is with all of this that you came across this new person that you deemed to be physically attractive.
If that was all it was, this would be normal, but you have exceeded this.
You think about this person frequently, whether you are at work, running errands, working out at the gym, cooking, pumping gas, etc.
This isn’t normal.
This means that this guy isn’t only someone you deem to be physically attractive; you have developed an emotional connection to him.
That is why you feel attracted to him instead of solely deeming him physically attractive and leaving it at that.
Sadly, this is a strong indication that you are no longer as emotionally invested in your boyfriend as you once were and that there is a possibility of infidelity in the foreseeable future.
