There are places where having a car is actually unusual.

These are usually large metropolitan areas, such as New York City, where most people don’t have cars and get around mostly by foot or public transit, a la the subway.

Situations like this are different, as having a car might actually be a negative.

Finding parking spaces and navigating through bumper-to-bumper traffic would be a massive challenge and headache in large metropolitan areas like this.

Which is why lots of people choose not to have a car in these large metropolitan areas, as it is much quicker and much more convenient to get around by foot or public transit.

Someone with a legitimate reason to not have a car is a student.

A student isn’t yet on a career path but rather is studying to get the qualifications to get on a career path.

A significant number of students don’t have cars.

These caveats aside, a person who doesn’t have a car is a potential red flag.

A car is usually an indication of financial independence.

When you are the one who keeps having to pick this guy up to go on dates, this will eventually become an annoying issue for you.

It is as though you are the one in the driver seat all the time.

Not only the driver’s seat of your car, but also the driver’s seat of the entire courtship.

Being the one with a car, you are constantly having to pick him up, take him to a location for a planned date or activity, and drop him off.

This gets old after a while.

Additionally, a guy who doesn’t have a car can’t be spontaneous.

Everything has to be planned out beforehand so that he either finds someone to give him a ride, waits for a ride share to pick him up, or gets to the bus stop at the right scheduled time for when the bus arrives.

It’s rare that someone who can afford to rent or own a place to live is without a car.

Someone with the financial wherewithal to rent or own a place to live has the financial wherewithal to have a car.

Unfortunately, this is someone who typically relies on living with roommates or family so as to be able to afford a place to live.

A man who can’t stand on his own two feet financially is yet another unattractive trait.

When you are looking to date a man, his financial solvency is absolutely critical.

Without taking this into consideration, you are left with not only the burden of having to drive him around but also paying for dates and activities as well.

This is often a precursor to his ability to financially provide in the future.

If he requires the assistance of roommates or family to help him afford a place to live, his ability to financially provide for a future partner and family is precarious.

Next thing you know, you are the one who ends up having to pay for the majority of the household bills.

No matter how physically attractive and charming this guy is, all of the financial burden that falls on you during courtship and beyond is certain to make you resentful of him.

Women aren’t biologically wired to date someone they have to carry financially.

With all of this in mind, avoid dating someone who doesn’t have a car unless they meet the caveats described earlier.

This saves you from wasting too much time on someone who ends up becoming a financial burden to you.
