She won't go out with me but keeps texting me

So I met this girl through a homegirl of mine, we talked a bit then she took my number. We’ve been texting awhile, I try to call her but she says she prefers texting. I’ve asked her out a few times but she keeps cancelling for different reasons. Like I’ve talked with other girls before and if they don’t like me they’ll just stop talking. But she did try to setup a date once and she cancelled that one also.
Oh yeah plus the day I met her she just broke up with her boyfriend.
I just wanna know why she’s doing this, pulling me in and pushing me away just enough so I still stay
