It's probably nothing but I'm still curious

Okay so there is this guy in my math class who I had smiled at one day just to be friendly also because I thought he was cute and he smiled back and that was it and when we got into class he sato a chair away from me but had to move over another seat cause the person who typically sits there came in and so next class I smiled again and he smiled back and nodded his head and mouthed hi at me and after a few minutes I asked a girl a question about class and we started talking and he kept looking at me and walked over and tried to join the conversation but the girl kind of excluded him and he stood next to me so I was awkwardly in the middle and was torn between them but ultimately she wouldn’t stop talking so I didn’t get to talk to him much but during class I kept noticing him looking at me but he wouldn’t look away when I looked at him or anything so I’m not sure if I should talk to him next class or not my friends think I should because they think he might be interested in me but heck I have no clue..so what should I do? And what do you think this could possibly mean if anything?

alright b, he is obviously interested if he came out of his way, I think you should talk to him more to feel out the situation.
