Is it reasonable for a guy to not want to get into a relationship with someone because he hasn’t gotten to the point where he is in love with that person?
Note: This is a guy I’ve been dating for months. He hasn’t verbally confirmed or denied being in love, even though his actions give me a strong impression that he has strong emotional feelings for me. He just says that getting into a relationship is something he takes very seriously and doesn’t want to get into one unless he’s in love.
How long does it take for someone to fall in love? Does it mean that he’s never going to fall in love if months have gone by?
This guy may believe that he has to be in love with the person before getting into a relationship with them. It is not the rule for everyone. However, it appears to be for him. Hence, as long as he has been honest with you about this, he is being reasonable.
It can take someone one meeting to fall in love and others months. However, falling in love typically happens within the first 3 months of dating, as long as the dating is exclusive and there are no other suitors involved.
It doesn’t mean that he is never going to fall in love if months go by. If anything, this may be the kind of guy who needs to date you for several months before falling in love.
