Girl seemed interested before, now not so much

So me and this girl go to high school together, but study different subjects. Even so we would eat close during breaks, and this is where we would stare at each other a lot. So I figured there must be something there, I approached her in a pretty confident way when she ate alone once, she seemed interested and happy to talk so I asked for her number etc.

However, now that we’re in texting/instant messaging areas of talking, she isn’t very interested I think. She is quite talkative about school, but never anything personal. Plus she will rarely initiate conversation. Does she struggle because we don’t know each other well enough? Thoughts?
