He knows that asking you a question about yourself requires an extended and substantial response, and that leaves him stuck having to listen to you for a while.
This is where he avoids asking you any questions about yourself that opens the door to an extended response that he isn’t ready to listen to.

He knows that the less questions he asks you, the less answers he receives.
This keeps him from having to worry about getting into extended conversations with you.
Furthermore, he prefers talking to people around him rather than talk to you.
For instance, you are hanging around friends and he is talking to those friends a whole lot more than he is talking to you.
In fact, sometimes it feels as though he is downright ignoring you in these situations.
This behavior is typical of a guy who is just tired of talking to you.
He is distracted by said friends, and is much more excited to talk to them than he is to talk to you.
You attempt to talk to him from time to time in this environment, but he either completely ignores what you are saying and doesn’t respond, or he gives you a weak and short response.
His response is never conducive to keeping the conversation going with you.
It is brusque or abrupt, and is rarely followed up with a question.
When he talks to you, he primarily talks about topics that he likes, not caring whether you are interested in the topics or not.
Basically, he doesn’t delve into topics he knows that you like.
He doesn’t do this because he knows that the moment he does, you are going to want to talk about that topic in question that much more.
This leaves him with the burden and boredom of having to listen to you go on and on.
Listening to music, playing video games, getting on his laptop, or watching TV is what he would much rather do with you.
He distracts himself with these activities, knowing that if he doesn’t, he wouldn’t have an excuse not to talk to you.
It doesn’t take long before you realize that he has all of this stuff at the ready the moment you show up.
In essence, he never wants to be too far away from these items, as they give him the perfect excuse to use as a distraction, the moment you arrive or start boring him.
